Thanks for the status update. While the result is not what I've personally hoped for, at least your stance and motivations are clear, even somewhat agreeable from a high-level view.
Also I do like the way you say "functionality provided by E4X", because that's for most of us what's its really all about: JSON is proliferating but XML is still out there and in daily practice we just have no other choice then to be able use it.
Ah well, lets get waiting for ES5 and TC39, and prepare for a few more years of looping DOM childNodes[] and searching for custom solutions like sax, xml2js and so on.
