Continuing #6: ... and by using another word one can easily get the
equivalent of
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/lang/ref/PhantomReference.html
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/lang/ref/ReferenceQueue.html
This additional word is used to link things in the queue when they get
phantom reachable. Can we get rid of that additional word? Not sure, but I
don't think so.
I just wanted to mention that because the idea of phantom references is
floating around for some time, and most of the time people (including
us ;-) want phantom references, not weak references.
