As for V8 in games... I believe you are right, if it wasn't for one big thing: V8 lacks support for a range of CPUs used in popular gaming consoles, such as PowerPC (in XBOX360 and Wii) and Cell (PS3). Adding support for these architectures is a major task, that will probably not be taken care of by the Open Source community, because the vast majority of people are on a x86-based system.
