         I won't absolutely swear to it, but I'm 99.9% sure that the top 
panel is plastic- I have a photo in the Norcold catalog here, and I just 
cannot see them putting that much work into a metal part.

         A couple of thoughts, though- are you dead set on having LP 
capability? You could, if the old cabinet is in good shape, install either 
a Norcold or Nova Kool 12 volt compressor system (probably not practical, 
but I thought I would through the idea out there).

         Another thought is the Norcold 442, it's just an inch taller, a 
couple of inches wider, and the controls are at the bottom, with less 
plastic exposed (everything is black).

         Dometic actually has a three year warranty now (the catch is it 
must be serviced once a year).
