Polyethylene has a somewhat soapy feel. It has a symmetrical molecule
that makes it difficult for adhesives to get a grip. I don't know about
recent products, but decades ago the only way to get any adhesive to
stick well was to ionize the surface with an electric plasma to destroy
some of the molecular symmetry. Essentially the only connection had to
be mechanical or by hot air welding.
