         There is a pretty good website with pointers on identifying 
plastics, and repair guides at:  http://www.urethanesupply.com/index.htm  .
         It is really for auto body type repairs (plastic bumpers, etc.), 
but it still has some good stuff.

         Also, FWIW- I *think* Harbor Freight had a very basic plastic 
welder for around $50- you have to supply the air compressor, but for that 
price..
