Title: RE: [VAC] Re: Holding Tanks, floor replacement, etc.
Jimbo,
Thanks for the article.  I hadn't read that one.

I have to agree.  I really expected a barrage of comments about my idea by those who had worked with the problem before.  Perhaps caulking works fine, so no one has bothered to repair it any other way--or else it's a really tired topic.

Anyway, I'm making the repairs tomorrow.  Since I haven't had any negative feedback or attention drawn to problems with my idea, I suppose I'll try it -- especially since it's so easily done.

I'll let you know if I run into problems.

Well Jason, personally, I like your plan.  As you've noted, it's a lot like what
I've been thinking of doing.  But I keep re-reading Bud Cooper's article:
and wondering why something similar hasn't been tried already, or why
none of the old-timers on this list, that've looked at that junction back there
more than a time or two, haven't spoken up yet.

For the area on each side where the frame enters, I'm thinking that I'll cut smaller sections in the shape of an "L".  These will fit just over where the frame enters and will need extra caulking since there may be a tiny gap there.  I don't know... haven't thought of anything better yet.  I wish I could find some type of rubber flashing that would work.  Thought of casting one out of latex--but that's a lot of trouble.
Think that'll work?

What are you going to do with the flashing where the frame rails
extend out for the bumper?
