Vintage airstreams should be rewired for modern connections because new vehicles with the towing option come wired with the modern connections. But you can easily make a foot or two long adapter to fit the modern truck and accept the old Airstream plug and connections. I don't know of any commercially available, but it shouldn't take a sleepy electrician more than half an hour to make one. Which is about how long it should take to change the plug on the trailer cord. Look up the Bargeman connector page for the modern connections and a vintage Airstream owner's manual for the old connections. Most connector packages with the modern connector include the connections. Even at Walmart. Look for trailer hitch connector harnesses from RV dealers, hitch dealers and the like. Hoppy and Tap are two brands that are around. Call 800-Weaver-D for a catalog. They have hitches, controllers, wiring kits, and other useful stuff at decent prices. The Hoppy style trailer wiring adapter plugs into the tow vehicle wiring harness near the rear. It doesn't isolate to trailer nearly as well as the Ford factory towing option that uses separate fused circuits and relays for the trailer. Gerald J.
