My '98 F-150 small V-8 has a 140 amp alternator nestled down in the V. The Leece-Neville company makes alternators of at least 250 amp ratings for emergency vehicles, designed to handle 100 amps of lights and stuff in things like ambulances and fire trucks. The classic Univolt will insult and damage any good batteries from lack of charge regulation. Gerald J.
