You might consider the Dodge Durango 5.9L set up with the tow package. It's
a shade bigger than the Explorer on the outside, much, much bigger on the
inside and set to tow over 7000# it handles my '69 Overlander (27') really
well with a Reese equalizing hitch, so far..I'm new at this myself. It
takes an extra 2 MPG to tow the A/S
By all means, look for an older A/S, they are so well made & tow beautifully
