BINGO!  Vietnam - polyester leisure suits - the real estate boom - steak houses with maroon naugahyde upholstery - gas lines etc.

America was losing it's spirit of adventure and Quality.  It's amazing that Zippo lighters and Levis survived the "plushing of America".  One can only wonder what would have happened if aerospace company like Lockheed or Teledyne had bought Airstreams.
