Hi Josh,

I don't blame you for wanting your own web space where you can install what you want. We've tried to get www.uvm.edu onto php5 for years now, but there are users on the site who haven't fixed their code to work under php5 yet and we can only do so much to prod them.

If anyone has graphic design skills (I certainly don't) here are a couple place I saw linked off of digg this AM for logo design inspiration:

http://digg.com/design/25_Sources_For_Logo_Design_Inspiration?OTC-ig2

http://logopond.com/

http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/6993 (KeepOpen design is for an open source CMS hosting site)

http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/38738 (Internet Traffic Report)

http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/35747 (I like the "birds on a telephone wire" motif)

It's true: you can still occasionally find useful links off of digg. :-)

Does anyone have recent status of the Vague wiki? Will someone volunteer
to do a primer about the wiki this month since we don't have any other

  data.

The VAGUE wiki is a bit outdated mediawiki install, but it is roughly up
to date, content wise. I moved all historical meeting
announcements/notes and other uvm.org/vague/ pages into the wiki, as
well. A couple of months ago, Aaron and I tried to upgrade mediawiki
en-route to using it solely for the http://uvm.org/vague/ webspace, but
that failed primarily because that webhost is not running php5. :| I
understand there's an effort being made to make php5 available on that
host, but its a long battle. :(

FWIW, I'd love if we had a reasonable second-level domain for VAGUE that
was more … well, bluntly, under my^w our control. :D Not that I don't
totally love and appreciate the uvm.org webspace and *especially*
mailing-list hosting and archives. But I think a second-level domain
would help with google juice and group identity/branding, especially
externally. And this php hosting situation is a PITA. Problem is, I
can't seem to figure out a good second-level domain that's available. I
guess we could copy the VAGUE Geocaching group
<http://www.geovague.org/> and go with <http://unixvague.org/> or
something. Thoughts? Can we get a good domain I can register, and
migrate VAGUE's web presence over there?

Also, can we get a good logo? :) My pathetic attempt from a couple of
years ago is attached as a cautionary exa^w^w^w^w for inspiration. :)
