HAH! The fonts I chose are no more esoteric than most FOSS. These are high quality open source typefaces. A rarity indeed. These fonts are careful "clones" of high-visiblity fonts from a variety of foundries. The TeXGyre fonts have full character coverage for Unicode, and are not just 8bit fonts. Think Helvetica and Courier. That's what we're talking about. The TeXGyre fonts I selected are just implementations of those, under a variety of different names and somewhat mixed histories. They're not 100% identical, but they're really close--- and not in the "close" way that Arial (worst sans-serif font ever) bears similarity to Helvetica (most popular sans-serif font ever).
