It should run like any other java program:
java -Xmx512m -jar runvassal.jar
Now, if you are just double-clicking on the jar and relying on your
system to supply a Java interpreter, it gets a bit more complicated.
You would then have to locate and change some system-wide default
setting.
For Macs, I don't even know if it is possible to set this globally in
any simple fashion, or even at all!
