In terms of having a single destination for VASSAL information, I feel that this list is that destination. The fact that this list exists hasn't stopped others from setting up other VASSAL forums, and I don't think having a forum at vassalengine.org would reduce the number of third-part forums. Anyway, it shouldn't be our goal to eliminate those other sources, just to provide the most useful one ourselves.
The other reason for hosting a forum is essentially an interface issue: some people like the forum interface better. I'm not one of them. I prefer email, but maybe there's a best-of-both-worlds solution. A two-way email interface, though, is an absolute must. rk [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
