Hi Shawn,

I had heard of CALs (number of licences ?), in relation to SQL Server.
I didn't realise that it applies to Windows Server as well.
I will check that out, during the week.

I have to get the bugs(wrinkles) out of what they have got so far.
Plus new features(requests) are popping up as we go along.
Plus I have to develop and blend in a Tasks/Alerts/etc system (and there are
a lot of Tasks associated with each Job).
Trust me, getting all that done in acceptable time, will be enough of a
miracle, without me trying something new in the DB area.
I don't doubt that what you say is correct, but it would be a bit like
'Fiddling while Rome burns'.
Even if it was 10 times better, I would be foolish to be diverting my time
and abilities(cough!).
Perhaps you could send that son of yours over for a wee stay at my place.
There was a famous killer called 'Son of Sam'
One day there will be a famous Bill Gates replacement called 'Son of Shawn'

Upgrading the server shouldn't make any difference at all UNLESS
they're using the wrong licensing mode for Windows Server 2003. They
should ensure they have enough CAL's to allow access to as many
devices are connected (cha-ching!). Again, using ASP would avoid
this because a web-server (the cheapest licensing model) is not
limited by CAL's except where it is used for administrative access
(max 2 simultaneous administrative connections, THEN cha-ching!).
