Not true. The regular end user has NAT, Bridged, Host-Only, VDE (linux host only), & Internal and as such are configurable via VBoxManage.

Example:
So I want to use GNS3 on my Windows 7 and I install VirtualBox from VirtualBox.org. Since I am not compiling this, how do I activate the UDP protocol?

All I am saying is think this stuff through. Make certain that it is right before you make it available.

What about the regular end user that runs a pre-compiled version.

They will not be able to turn this off and on unless you provide something
in VBoxManage, and if so should be disabled by default.
Regular user is supposed to work with default config, which means NAT,
and not touch settings. NAT works great !
