There are a couple of ways which one can use to do an unattended
install of windows. One of those is built into windows itself since
win2k if memory serves. As for gnu/linux, iso images exist (some
official, most not), which include speakup, orca, and such, to allow
for interactive install of gnu/linux distros from scratch. I know for
a fact that fedora, and debian, also let you do an unattended
installs, and maybe other distros allow for this as well.

While having virtualbox do an unattended install of guest
operating systems would be helpful, this is not to say that unattended
installs of windows, and gnu/linux cannot be done by a VI person
today, on virtual or bare hardware.
