Howdy,

Perhaps the question should be:  why shouldn't it be?  :)

Generally speaking, there are always more than one way to accomplish a
task (on a computer and in life!  :).  Some clearly are more efficient
than others.   What I find comes into play is experience.  

Some people design for the convenience of development with no regard
for performance and/or maintainability.  I usually attribute this to
lack of experience.
