I am having a similar problem on OS11exp but with Vista 64. Sometimes
waiting for it to finish works this might be 30 minutes to hours. The
other day I was installing updates and left for work came back and the
system still was on the same progress bar. This is not even close to be
workable so far just doing updates has taken me the better part of three
days and I just passed service pack 2 and have probably 100 updates to
do before I get it patched.

But I really don't have much choice if I was on /gnu/linux I would
probably use KVM, in fact I have been thinking about shelving vbox due
to such issues. If you stop a guest while downloading you might get
Window crc failures so when I have stopped it I have been sure to do it
while not downloading for the most part.

If you check the forums many people have similar problems I think that
vbox in not stable and I think that another solution might be better.
My suggestion is use KVM if on Fedora and don't look back to Vbox.
