So either the VM or the host can access the USB, but not both.

Some possible approaches:

- Continue to do what you are doing (shut down the VM when you need to
print)
- Share the printer under Linux using samba and set up Windows to print to
that share
- vice versa (share under Windows and have Linux print to the Windows
share).
