Frank: As I mentioned in my OP this is on a Windows 7 64bit host. Being a member of the vboxusers group is a *unix* thing which I am aware of, but don't think it applies here. There is no mention of such a thing in the install section of the manual for Windows users. All I know is that this user account worked fine under 4.0.4 and broke under 4.0.6. Going back to 4.0.4 fixed the problem with no changes in user account or status.
