yeah, tasm and tlink - friends forevah!  :-)

but i have doubts about BIOS call.

Even it existed (which i doubt, neer heard of BIOS call for this exact  
check) for any practical program it would be times easier to make direct  
memory read at well-known predefined adress F000:FFF5, than dive into  
interrrupts calling from hi-level language
