I'm running XP under VB under Fedora 14 for the specific purpose
of enabling my old Garmin GPSs to talk to my legacy, proprietary topo map
software suites (from Garmin, DeLorme, and topo.com).

The only hardware the GPSs have or know about is a serial port,
though some of the software is USB-aware.

The Delorme (TopoUSA), for instance, flatly refuses to admit the
existence of any port but USB, even in the help section.

The Garmin (TopoUS2008) is not so blatant, but the result seems
to be the same.

Anybody know a way around this? I doubt that Garmin's (let alone
Delorme's) support people want to hear about linux, much less VB ....

I have precious (very precious!) little idea where up is.

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security

sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
