Hi, I usually also get a hanging installer on VB upgrades. At this point, the network interfaces are de-configured, and the only thing left is a reboot. I don't have a proof for that, but I think the reason is that I have IBM's Rational ClearCase installed (which exposes the M: drive for it's MVVS filesystem). After the reboot, everything is fine and also VB works okay.

We have reports that the installation could fail but in this case the installation is aborted and does not loop forever. Keep in mind that the installer should normally ask for admin permissions to install the kernel drivers, so could it be that you just missed the dialogs which were waiting for a confirmation from you?
