Giving a bit more thought...

You can try to re-partition your host hard disk (shrink main NTFS
partition), create new partition, and give spare partition to your
Linux guest.

Then if you can modify host's (Windows) bootloader to start Linux from
second partition, it might work with VBox. Never tried that one.
