Untested, but most of these new systems have an option to create restore 
media on CD/DVD.  Perhaps this media could be used to restore to a VM.  
Alternately, one could clone the hard disk with Clonezilla, G4U, etc., 
including the restore partitions, and try restoring that to a VM.  Seems 
it would be morally correct as long as it is used on the same hardware, 
particularly if the disk is wiped and Linux installed, but I'm not sure 
about the legal and technical details.

I may have to do some experimenting soon, now that the seed of an idea 
has been planted. I've got a couple of dual-boot systems with Windows 7 
that I'd really prefer to have Linux-native-only with virtualization for 
M$.
