Hi there, Sun Microsystems used to offer a free download of Sun Java Communications Suite v6 as a Virtualbox image. See here: http://goo.gl/Xw1I0
v6 is special (at least for me) as it was the last version to include a pure-Java Instant Messenger client with SSL support. --begin quote-- Downloading the VirtualBox Image The VirtualBox image is available on the MediaCast Website, in five parts named: SunJava_Comms_Suite6_VBox-part-#, where '#' is a letter from '1' to '5'. Download all five parts. To verify data integrity, download the MD5 Checksums in SunJava_Comms_Suite6_md5.txt. Unzip each of the zip images On Solaris OS, use the cat command to concatenate the parts which were just unzipped into the desired VDI file: $ cat SunJava_Comms_Suite6_VBox.vdi-part-? > SunJava_Comms_Suite6_VBox.vdi --end quote-- However, the Mediacast web site seems to have been decomissioned. http://mediacast.sun.com/tags/VBox_Comms_Suite6u1 So, I´m writing here to find out if by pure chance any Virtualbox user still has access to this Virtualbox VM image freeware that used to be available from Sun... or perhaps it made it to some Sun/Java freeware update CDs that I can seek for on eBay?. If you don´t want to pollute this list with this semi-OT thread, feel free to contact me off-list. Thanks in advance.
