Hi, there,
I know it's a quite old problem. I have read the networking part of user manual
of virtualbox, still got no clues. So I asked here.
First, let me tell the environment:
The host: Ubuntu Oneiric
Virtualbox: 4.1
The guest: Ubuntu Precise(12.04 Beta1)
What I want is to setup the guest to use the bridged networking in a quite old
and complex way. The topology is similar to the one in the link
http://openvswitch.org/support/config-cookbooks/qos-rate-limiting/, I restate
the scenario as following:
VM, i.e. Guest Ubuntu, is using tap0 which I have created using openvpn
utility.  And the tap0 and the physical interface eth0 is bridged on with the
br0 which is created with Open vSwitch.
Now, I open the setting dialog of guest Ubuntu before booting it, switch to the
network setting page, choose Bridged Network under Attach To field, and tap0
for the name field, then click OK. In the host, I use the ifconfig tap0
192.168.1.23 netmask 255.255.255.0 to setup the tap0 device's ethernet address,
but after guest Ubuntu booting up, its eth0 got 192.168.1.26 address which is
different than tap0. Why?
Is there steps am i missing? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Cheers,
Hu Jingfei
