Howdy,

Is it possible that either one of you may have some bad memory?  Have
you run a memtest on your physical machine?  See http://www.memtest.org

The test is non-destructive and I've run them before turning in for
the night.  It may not be the issue but perhaps you can quickly rule
out bad memory.
