Yes, I did eventually get it to work, and the O/S is Ubuntu.  I used pull down 
menus instead of code.  (Which I was doing backwards because I didn't 
understand the order correctly.)   This example is very clear.

Hi,

Did you get the above resolved?

What's unclear to me is the O/S Guest you've created.  Given you're trying to 
`sudo', I'm going to guess it's a Linux variant.

If you create a Shared Folder for the VM as follows:

   Folder Path:  /usr2/tmp
   Folder Name:  oreo_usr2_tmp

You mount it as follows:

   mount -t vboxsf oreo_usr2_tmp /path/to/existing/directory
