Hi Ryan,

Have you disabled the firewall on the Guest?  One test is to run
tcpdump (or wireshark) on the Guest and look for traffic on port 9717:

   # Check for traffic on port 22 on the `eth0' interface
   # tcpdump -i eth0 port 22
