I have a little hex loader application that runs on Windows XP, it loads
code onto a board rather like (but not exactly like) an Arduino board.

It works OK from a 'real' Windows XP system but not from my guest
Windows XP under xubuntu 12.04.

Is there anything I can do to make the ethernet port on the XP guest act
more like a real ethernet port? The loader scans for some sort of
handshake that comes back from the board its trying to send data to, the
destination is in a state where it hasn't initialised in the normal way
and doesn't have an IP address.

Currently the guest XP system is running with the ethernet in bridge
mode.
