The only time I see this being necessary is if you're intending to use
2 of the same appliance on the same network. I wouldn't worry about it
otherwise. There are circumstances as well where reinitializing the
MAC address could cause the name of the network interface to change,
such as in debian/ubuntu, and that can create a headache.
