I am running VirtualBox 4.1.16-78094~Debian~squeeze on Linux vent 2.6.38-2-amd64 #1 SMP Thu Apr 7 04:28:07 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux
and have both debian and centos guests running fine. Not having much luck getting Windows 7 with IE9 from here: <http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11575>. working. When you unpack the rar acrhive you end up with a Windows 7.vhd, and I use that to create a guest image. When I boot the image I end up with a BSOD, I think, with no technical details. The guest then reboots, and I get the option to repair or reboot normally. The repair takes a while but end up in the same state on next reboot. This is on a Lenovo w520. I have VT-d disabled otherwise the host os get past setting up devices. The other setting, I think, is called VT VMM or something and that is enabled. I have tried to disable the VT VMM setting, and I am pretty sure that I tried all the hardware combinations offered by virtualbox and it is not making any difference. I was setting the same thing issue with virtualbox 4.0. Tried with 2 and 4gb of memory allocated to guest. Others, I understand from the list, run windows 7, and reviewed the first few hundred hits from the list archive and not finding anything interesting. Also reviewed the list of 276 tickets matching "guest type is window and description contains windows 7" and did not see anything obvious. Any help would be appreciated, /Allan -- Allan Wind Life Integrity, LLC <http://lifeintegrity.com> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
