Hello, i want to migrate a Virtualbox guest machine from one host (machine A) to another, but on the new host it crashes with a kernel panic, during booting: "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task!"
Here's a screenshot: http://paste.opensuse.org/5802897 [1] Trying on two other VM host machines again results in a guest crash on one host, while working on the other. Here is an overview of the environments and where the guest crashes: http://pastehtml.com/view/bzx62wezu.html (for google history: [2]) Here is the VM guests XML: http://paste.opensuse.org/29784460 And here the VBox.log of the guest when booting into crash: http://paste.opensuse.org/11668389 The VM guest is running opensuse-11.2 (obsolete release). Other guests which are not crashing have opensuse-11.3 (and later) resp. Debian 5.0.9. Could it be that old/obsolete guest OSs cause such kernel panics? I migrated by creating a new VM guest (with same parameters) and then using the copied vdi-File from the old machine. Any other information which i could evaluate, tests i should run? Any hints to solve the problem? Thanks in advance: Dominik ---------------------------------------------------------------- PS footnotes.
