I use static IPs and my environment has a couple of DNS servers in it as
standard.

DHCP is good for one-off clients, server systems usually have static
IPs, not just in Virtual Environments, but physical ones as well.
You are right. But I would like to have a mix of both solutions. I want
to use DHCP, that provides static IP addresses for a specific VM. Beside
the IP information, this let me also modify things like special DNS
server setups or something like this. Also hostnames can then be set via
DHCP. But therefor I need a hint on how to do this with the VirtualBox
DHCP or if this is not possible for now / not wanted....

The total extent of the DHCP Server configuration is covered here:

http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch08.html#vboxmanage-dhcpserver

It is only a basic DHCP server, so, at the moment, if you require advanced functionality then this would need to be provided by a DHCP server external to Virtualbox itself. You can run this either as a DHCP server on the host system itself, or as a DHCP server in the virtual environment. Both these would require disabling the built-in DHCP server, but that is possible to do.

I guess if you wanted advanced functionality within Virtualbox and you feel this would be of use to others then it might be worth putting it in as a feature request.

You might however find a DHCP / DNS server appliance pre-made on the Internet a much easier option - if you have the necessary hardware resources to run it in addition to your other server(s).
