Hi. I have a VM that runs its OS entirely in RAM by virtually booting from
an ISO file on the host drive. I would like to make use also of the host's
CD/DVD drive for writing data to a DVD placed in it. It is capable of
writing DVD/RW. I looked at the manual of VirtualBox Help file, and I found
this information:

The standard CD/DVD emulation allows for reading standard data CD and DVD
formats only. As an experimental feature, for additional capabilities, it is
possible to give the guest direct access to the CD/DVD host drive by
enabling "passthrough" mode. Depending on the host hardware, this may enable
three things to work, potentially:
* CD/DVD writing from within the guest, if the host DVD drive is a
CD/DVD writer;
*       playing audio CDs;
*       playing encrypted DVDs.
There is a "Passthrough" checkbox in the GUI dialog for configuring the
media attached to a storage controller, or you can use the --passthrough
option with VBoxManage storageattach; see Section 8.18, "VBoxManage
storageattach"
<mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.chm::/ch08s18
.html>  for details.

I looked around for that "Passthrough" checkbox in the GUI dialog, but I do
not see it. Also, since this VM is virtually booting and ISO file, there is
already a device in the Storage Tree section under IDE Controller. It is
identified by the name of the ISO file, and its attributes appear as CD/DVD
Drive on IDE Secondary Master. Since I now want another DVD drive, that is,
the host's drive, I assume should add it here as the IDE Primary Master.
Does that not sound right, or where can I get additional information about
making this kind of configuration with VirtualBox? Thanks.
