Did you try editing the .VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml file, and doing a
find/replace? (or removal of the snapshots that no longer exist)?

My guess is that perhaps there´s some information about snapshots
there, although I haven´t looked... and sadly don´t have VBox
installed right now (moved all my VMs to a BD-R bluray backup as I
needed the extra HD space).

Perhaps someone else could chime in with a more accurate answer. I´m
just shooting in the dark...
