I knew that when two people get at odds with each other, the best thing to
do is to defuse the bomb before it explodes.
Unfortunately, I apparently made the mistake of using the phrase
"constructive criticism" when I actually meant just 'criticism'. -remember
English is not my native language, that means I often use common
expressions in English without much thinking as I'm actually thinking my
response in Spanish first...
Indeed, there was very little 'constructive' in the original message that
ticked off Pablo.
Then Pablo thought the above comment by me as an indication that I was
siding with the user, and not him.
That was NOT my intention. I didn't want to side with anybody, because
we're the co-admins on this list, run by us as volunteers, not affiliated
with any company, and what users choose to think about our work is just
that, an opinion. Someone might think we rock at it, a few might think we
suck. So be it.
My news ed at The Inquirer once told me to cool down and stop taking
reader' s criticism so seriously 'readers can be Ph.Ds or 12 year olds for
all we know" he told me. That helped me a lot to take criticism -some even
mean- as what it was .... opinions.... and with a grain -or large bag of-
salt.
So, please, let's drop this nonsense. Pablo, as far as I'm concerned has
been doing and is doing a great Job, he did the anti-spamming filters that
I could have never devised on my own. You are very much welcome to stay.
And to the OP that caused this nonsense, you already offered apologies,
let's not escalate or repeat this, please.
That's all I'm going to say about this. I'll await for Pablo to rethink is
resignation decision over the weekend. And if he chooses to leave for good,
then I'm ready to continue his work with the subscription moderation. But
he'll be missed.
