LVM snapshots are crap.  You have to pre-allocate all the snapshot space (which 
most people can't do because they've already pre-allocated all the storage.)  
And if you don't pre-allocate enough, then the moment the snapshot volume runs 
out of space, it instantly disappears.  The main volume remains intact, but the 
snapshot disappears.

LVM snapshots are only suitable for temporary, you create a snapshot, then you 
use some other mechanism to get the data out of the snapshot, and then you 
destroy your snapshot.
