I want to suggest to make the combined queue number in virtio-net equal the configured number of cpus of the guest (even better: user configurable). I would expect this to push the network performance quite a lot. Unfortunately currently the max queue number seems to be fixed to 1. I suspect this tears down the performance because the current single queue cannot have cpu affinity. This is probably why network performance is better with one guest cpu. -- Regards, Stephan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get 100% visibility into Java/.NET code with AppDynamics Lite It's a free troubleshooting tool designed for production Get down to code-level detail for bottlenecks, with <2% overhead.
