Hello,
I am new here, not an IT pro, but I understand some things :-)
On My desktop PC, I use Windows 7 64 bits. For some types of work
(technical translation) I need some applications (dictionaries) that
needed to be installed in Windows XP mode. I do not only translations,
so I do not use them every week, not even every month.
Lately, these applications no longer wish to start. Because I don't need
it on a regular basis, I cannot be more accurate than "lately".
About a year ago (or more) I played with Virtual box, just to see if I
could manage to install Ubuntu in it.
I succeeded in getting Ubuntu to work, almost out of the box. Internet
worked, I could transfer data to and from it, well, I had a new working
OS that I did not need at all.
I do not remember what I configured.
Now that Windows XP becomres stubborn, I had another look at Ubuntu in
Virtual box. It still works, but I can't reach the internet. It also
does not see the SOHO network. On the router, I do not see the virtual
network card.
My question: Do the experts here see a relation between the way Windoes
XP Mode and Ubuntu in Virtual Box (no longer) work?
What should I look at?
I have no idea.
I have made a copy of the Ubuntu vrtual machine, so I am not afraid of
trying something, but: WHAT?
Regards,
Leo
