E: drive and tell vBox i've done that?
Ensure the VM has no snapshots, and shut down (power off) the VM.
Menu File > Virtual Media Manager..., find the VDI and click "Release
button", then "Remove"
When asked "Do you want to delete the storage unit of the hard disk .."
ANSWER Keep (!)
Close the Virtual Media Manager
Move the VDI to the desired location.
Select the VM, Settings, Storage, select the controller that did have the
VDI attached, and click the small "Add hard Disk" icon to the right of the
controller name, select "Choose existing disk" and navigate to the new disk.
Start the VM, if there is a problem with it finding the VDI (if you didn't
re-add the VDI file to the same controller?), then press F12 during boot to
re-select the boot VDI file.
> (c) if i take a snapshot of a .vdi, will it take as much hard disk space
as the .vdi before the snapshot? (i.e., if .vdi is 20gb, will .vdi plus
snapshot be 40gb?)
No.
Taking a snapshot freezes the VDI, and creates a new "differencing disk"
that stores changes made after the snapshot was taken.
Disk changes after the snapshot are written to the differencing disk, which
grows in size over time.
Make sure you understand how snapshots work before you try moving or
deleting the VDI files! People have come to grief.
In particular, since the main VDI is frozen, you must also backup the
snapshot differencing disk VDI files when doing backups.
