It's 3:00am and I'm half asleep, but I'll try to answer with a wild
guess: are you 100% sure the guest additions are properly installed,
and that the drivers are loading OK?.

>From the host command line, do
VBoxManage showvminfo VM_Name --details
(replace VM_name with the name of your VM, enclose in double quotes if
the name includes a space eg "Kubuntu such and such").

You will get a lot of info, in order to make it easy to read this
thread on the mailing list, do NOT paste that info here. Instead,
please load "pastebin.com" into your web browser, paste the info
returned by vboxmanage there, and once you have created a new pastebin
post, then please post JUST THE PASTEBIN URL here.

I hope any of the VBox devs or other more experienced user sees this
thread and can comment. In case everything fails, you will be able to
use the above vboxmanage info to open a bug ticket on
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Bugtracker (but please wait for some
other answer here before doing so).
