1. That is a well-known occurrence: W is more 'robust' against HW
glitches than L. One may welcome that or repudiate, it is one of the
facts of life. I for one find W's behaviour bad. I have seen that many
times with own and customers' computers. W hobbles until the crash when
it is too late. L indicates HW weakness *before* the inevitable disaster
happens.
Bottom line: You could be happy that L shows you the necessity to do
something.
My 2 cents.

2. Once upon a time there was a man who jumped out of the 15th floor
although everyone had warned him. Passing the 3rd floor he said "you
see, up to now all is fine!" ... :-)
