Before my rant about win xp not being able to read my mind let me
express my big thanks to the contributors for stepping under the
sunlight of oss.

Now to the problem:
Enabling bridged networking between win xp (host) and debian (guest) on
a desktop pc went quite smooth (after circumventing some issues with
debian not being able to auto configure dhcp).
Encuraged with that I voluntarily stepped forward to just repeat these
steps (win xp as host and debian as guest) on my laptop - and here the
marvel of computing begins.

Bridging the wireless with the virtual adapter just permanently killed
the host's connection to the internet and - needless to say - did not
any good to the guest. Instead, the host tells me the device for the
bridge would be a realtek lan card (which happens to be present in the
laptop, but shouldn't be used as bridge). After killing the lan device
and reestablishing a bridge, the host accused the wireless to be the
chosen bridge device. Sounds reasonable, but made no difference.
Checked that matter on the above mentioned desktop pc - there, the
device for the bridge is indeed the tap adapter. Sounds reasonable, too,
and is ok, but I'm not able to establish that environment on the laptop
again.

I'm not sure whether the above observation is connected to problem, but
nevertheless - any hints?

Jens
