Hello,

while I'm looking for appropriate ways running windows-applications on
my debian-powered laptop (Pentium M, 1,7GHZ) I now installed VBox. I'm
running Etch with kernel 2.6.18-3, ACPI / centrino-speedstepping.

For minimizing the overhead of the system I tried installing Windows 98.
The installation was working and so far successful.

But the performance was very poor: the installation took more than two
hours, and if I click the Win98 Explorer it needs more than a minute to
open. I have set the cpu-clock to maximum to achieve these results.
I did it before with Qemu, what was running much faster.

If the performance is significant better with other / newer windows-OS,
I might switch, though it will need much more disk-space.
The applications I like to use don't require more than Win98 for running.

thanx for helping / GW
