I was not even able to get that far using kernel version 2.6. If I tried to use the 2.6 kernel, the installation would frreze for me at detecting network configuration. What is your processor. Mine is an i386.

If I use 2.6.18-3-686 then the mouse is usable but the mouse pointer is invisible in gdm. When I run 2.6.17-2-686 all is functioning normally. But now after installing the Linux Guest Additions I don't see my mouse pointer any more in GDM. I was now able to select vboxvideo during xorg config and I am now able to use 1280x1024 resolution which was not available without the guest options, but my mouse pointer is gone. The mouse is still there, though. I can navigate with invisible mouse pointer for example open the menu but its not very funny. ;-) I tried xorg setup with different mouse settings but without success. I was able to see the mouse pointer without Guest Additions installed. Any ideas how to fix this?
