Hello Lin, You might want to take a look at using OpenVPN there. You could set up an OpenVPN server on the Debian VM and connect to it from the XP client.
See http://vbox.innotek.de/pipermail/vbox-users/2007-February/000723.html for an explanation of how to do this on a Debian system (thanks to Tim Day for the tip). For the Windows bit you will have to go through the OpenVPN docs and tutorials. This is not entirely trivial either, but you may find it easier to get working than host interface networking with bridging and things.
